Department of Applied Mechanics


Applied Mechanics Department conducts teaching –learning process in Engineering Mechanics as a part of curriculum for first year students of diploma engineering in Civil, Mechanical, Metallurgy & Electrical Programmes of this institute.

This department conducts Teaching-Learning Process for higher classes of Civil Engg in subjects like - Mechanics of Structures, Theory of Structures, Concrete Technology, Soil Mechanics, Analysis & Design of RCC and Steel Structures. Also this department conducts Teaching-Learning Process for the subject Strength of Material required in Mechanical Engg programme.

The department has well equipped laboratories in the following Courses:

  • Engineering Mechanics Laboratory
  • Strength of Material Laboratory
  • Concrete Technology Laboratory
  • Soil Mechanics Laboratory

The Department of Applied Mechanics is an important & one of the earliest departments in our GPP. This department is truly interdisciplinary in its core with diverse faculty expertise as it caters to the needs of various mechanics related subjects in Diploma Civil, Mechanical,Electrical & Metallurgy programmes in the institute by teaching Engineering Mechanics, Strength of Materials, Design of RCC and Steel Structures, Soil Mechanics & Concrete Technology.

The department has most of faculty members possessing PG qualifications, who are quite interested in pursuing research work in structural engineering. The average teaching experience of these faculty members is more than 20 years. Our faculty members have contributed on industrial consultancy and building material testing.

The department has well equipped four labs namely Applied Mechanics Lab, Strength of Materials Lab, Concrete Technology Lab & Soil Mechanics Lab.

This department has a consistent reputation for years together in 'internal revenue generation' through material testing and consultancy.
