Head of Department

Department of Information Technology was established under autonomy of Government Polytechnic, Pune in the year 2000 with the intake of 60 which is still continued. The philosophy of functioning as a Head of IT department is to promote growth mindset over fixed mindset. This leads us to explore the potential of autonomy and the potential of being IT hub and introduce promising courses and implementation strategies with respect to changing professional needs in our Department. The department not only ensures academic development of the students but also provides them with opportunities to prove themselves by undertaking project competitions, extra-curricular and co-curricular activities. Moreover, the department has made a name for itself by promoting the students project for National Hackathon competition. The department student has twice got laurels by winning Hackathon National competition as runner- up in 2017 and winners in 2020. Department of IT has bagged M.S.B.T.E. best lab award for the Software lab in the year 2017. Department is committed towards efforts to inculcate discipline amongst students and enforce a systematic methodology for student as well as faculty to ensure progressive quality and performance assessment. Department maintains excellent industry liaisons and harnesses the potential of industry personnel as well as online resources towards achieving the desired outcomes. With a view to further realize our vision we have introduced compulsory six weeks internship programme in our new curriculum which is being implemented from year 2019. Each and every individual in our department is committed to the cause of education. Our upcoming objective is to be part of such education system that rise beyond just the development of skills but also contribute more towards healthy society building.
